Camp of the Sky Pony Tribe

As Promised I'll be updating a lot this week to make up for not keeping up with postings for a couple weeks. So here's the most recent area I'm doing up.

Well after finishing One Stone I started in on the camp of the Sky Pony tribe. It's coming out well, I'll have some better shots tomorrow as I will have finished blending the valley area into the forest and then I'll show the hillside where the Black Bloods will come pouring out of the forest to attack the Sky Pony tribe and the players, if they have succeeded in making friends up to that point will have a pitch battle to save the Sky Pony tribe from the Black Bloods.

Granted this scene will probably take place at night so you won't get to see this as well, but after the battle I may set it up so the party can converse again with the Sky Pony chief and then rest until morning where I can fast forward the time and force rest the party. When they wake up they will be able to see the full camp and move out of the area so at least the visuals aren't wasted on a night scene.

I've always found something appealing about beast-totem tribes in fantasy, and I think these Uthgardt scenes have a great feel to them. Nice work!

I like that combination of textures. I'll have to use it.

Great looking area, Phoenixus - very realistic!

Well thanks guys,

The texture combo is I believe Grass_21, Grass_37, Mud_03, and then the Cliff_08. Then using the coloring brush set to black and lightly dusting over it.

That said,
One little known thing that perhaps allows me to be able to do the Uthgart as well as I do is that... believe it or not I was actually adopted into the extended family of an Ojibwe (Chippewa) tribe when I was younger. Keep in mind when a Native family like that does that it doesn't mean what it does in today's world. I also spent a good deal of time with the Lakota (Sioux) out in the Black Hills back when. So I understand what it means for them to have a sacred area like One Stone and be able to design things like this.

So I suspect it will have a great deal of influence when designing the Uthgart and the Sky Pony tribe specifically.

Sweet! My NWN2 Character is a Sky Pony Barbarian, searching for more stories on the tribe I came across this, what a coincidence!
